Back on the market after some good news in February. Falcao IGS is a 9 year old (birth date Dec 26, 2009) PSL revised, gelded summer 2018. Standing at 16.1hh he is the perfect height. He was imported by Casa Lusitana when he was younger from the IGS farm in Brazil. Private treaty only.
Through no fault of his, a couple years ago, Falcao went through a period of neglect while tied up in a divorce. He was unable to thrive during that time and does now require some maintenance as well as an experienced handler. He is green broke, but during that period in his life he had some bad training and isolation, primarily seen in his lack of forward under saddle. With a classical rider to bring him along slowly, consistently, give him lots of experience, and whom he could really bond with, I believe this would be of short problem. I believe he would do better in Working Equitation type work rather than just Dressage. However, he needs soft ground and/or probably shoes to be sound enough to go back to under saddle work.
He has flashbacks when being tied and needs work. He is easy to handle for vet work. He is ok to trim as long as he is not tied and is handled with gentle confidence. He is trimmed every 4-6 weeks currently. He is up to date on vaccinations and floats.
He has sired via hand bred live cover 4 foals. He has only been used to tease mares this year. More photos of his offspring are available on request. He reflected his handler as a stallion and has now been a gelding since summer of this year.
His IALHA and PSL registrations are clean and clear.
His biggest downside, from the situation he was in he now has chronic heel tenderness. He has had vet work ups. Xrays taken in Feb of both front hooves. Report from WSU states no degenerative changes. Over his rehab the last couple years his hooves have been improving. All we know from the situation he was in was that he was shoed and then neglected for about a year. His heels were contracted and run under with long toes.
During rehab he was on Platinum Performance Hemoflo and is now on Platinum Performance CJ. His level of tenderness is greatly seen in how good of ground he is on. He is currently barefoot although had small pads on for revision. Our ground here is often rock hard and not nice to work on.
He spent the week in Vegas last year at AWC for revision which was great experience for him.
Falcao greatly desires connection and a person of his own. He loves being brushed and loved on. He loves feeling like he did good. He has been mellowing nicely since the gelding and is moving well right now.
